About Kiln Firing at Gage Academy of Art
The pricing structure for Sculpture Kiln Firing is based on the amount of space your sculpture takes up within the kiln. We currently only fire Δ05 Bisque. We do not do glaze firings. At this time, we can only fire sculptures that were made during a Gage class, workshop, or program.
Please read all information below on pricing calculations, drop-off and pick-up, and disclaimer.

Pricing
Pricing Calculations
The price of firing one piece is dependent on its volume and is calculated as follows:
$15 flat handling fee + $15 per cubic ft.
The minimum price for firing a piece is $30. The flat handling fee of $15 is collected for every piece fired. Any piece larger than 5 cubic ft will need approval from the kiln techs.
To calculate the volume of your piece from its dimension in inches:
Volume in cubic ft = (Height x Width x Depth) / 1728

Cost: $30 (volume in cubic ft is 0.2)
Sculpture dimensions: 24"H x 15"W x 10"D

Due to variations in size and thickness and the skill of the artist, sculptural ceramics are among the more challenging forms to fire.
